New California Law Is Designed to Muzzle the Abortion Abolitionist Press
(Christian Gallery News Service, Sept 29, 2006) Anyone who remembers the story of the Nuremberg Files website will recognize immediately that the law signed on September 26, 2006 by California Governor Swarzenegger is directed against the Christian Gallery News Service, publisher of the Nuremberg Files and Abortioncams.com.
Those who don't see the connection, need to read the comments to the California law written by Dave Jones, the chair of the California Legislature's Committee on the Judiciary. He wrote, "According to the author, this bill is a response to the tactics of militant anti-abortion activists who have used the Internet to harass and intimidate reproductive health care service providers, employees, volunteers, and patients. A number of Internet websites - such as www.christiangallery.com , www.forerunner.com , and www.operationrescue.org - have posted the names, home and work addresses, phone numbers, and photographs of doctors who provide abortions and their patients. According to the websites, the ostensible purpose of providing this information is to "expose" persons whom the anti-abortion activists believe are engaged in the "murder" of unborn children. Some of these websites, however, have gone beyond exposing and shaming to make thinly veiled threats against doctors who perform abortions or those who assist them. For example, a website known as the "Nuremberg Files" produced Old-West-style "Wanted" posters of a group of abortion providers referred to as the "Deadly Dozen." The images were accompanied by the providers' home addresses and phone numbers, and even the addresses of their children's schools. At least four providers listed on the Nuremberg Files were subsequently murdered by anti-abortion activists."
The "comments" cited above provided the California legislature with the "facts" used to propel this law into reality. It is most revealing that at the critical point in the explanation, false information was provided to the California lawmakers, and that false information provided the energy required to bring this law to life. For example, in the last part of the "comments" section, it was stated that "four providers listed on the Nuremberberg Files were subsequently murdered by anti-abortion activists." It has been establised in the opinion handed down by the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals that no abortionist or no person listed on the Nuremberg Files was ever attacked or killed "subsequent" to being listed on the Nuremberg Files. If a person who had been killed was listed on the Files, it was after the attack, not before as the California Law claimed.
On such lies and false information, the "laws" that rule the American people are being erected. Hopefully most people have learned by now that the Christian Gallery News Service, as the leader of the abortion abolitionist press, will do everything in its power to fight this unconstitutional law until it is overturned--as it must be if freedom of the press is to have any meaning at all in this nation--by either the California Supreme Court or the United States Supreme Court.
