SUPREME COURT MAKES NO DIFFERENCE ON ABORTION

A few days ago we got the first undeniable and incontrovertible evidence that the strategy for abolishing legalized abortion most pro-life leaders had been manufacturing for the last few years was nothing more than wishful thinking, the self-serving mutterings of deluded people. If you've been paying attention to the story of legalized abortion in this nation, you know the hope I am talking about. Pro-life leaders have been saying for years that President George W. Bush was going to appoint Supreme Court justices who would abolish legalized abortion. The pro-life movement will then use the law outlawing abortion from South Dakota, take it to the Supreme Court and whammo! Roe v. Wade will be overturned and God's will will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Only problem is, a CNN news report on October 10, 2006 proved the strategy is a lie.

CNN news reported, "The [US] Supreme Court rejected an appeal Tuesday from a Georgia woman seeking to reverse a 1973 Supreme Court ruling giving her the right to an abortion. Sandra Cano was part of the original series of landmark rulings from the high court legalizing the medical procedure. The justices without comment refused to reopen the case...Cano stated in her appeal that she had never wanted an abortion in the first place, had been living in an abusive relationship, and had been forced by her attorney to fight the abortion option in court. The high court several years ago rejected a similar legal appeal from Norma McCorvey, the "Jane Roe" of Roe v. Wade. McCorvey, a resident of Texas, also sought to overturn the case that gave her the right to an abortion. Since the McCorvey rejection, Sandra Day O'Connor, who generally supported access to abortion, has retired from the bench, replaced in January by Justice Samuel Alito. The change did not appear to make a difference in the latest challenge," the CNN report concluded.

"The change did not appear to make a difference in the latest challenge."

I started weeping when I read that sentence and I've been weeping off and on ever since. I still have my wits about me enough to understand that when a 62 year old man with no other discernible medical conditions begins to weep uncontrollably and cannot seem to stop weeping except for momentary interruptions that conclude with more uncontrollable weeping, then symptoms of a serious problem must be seen to be occurring. Either the man is exhibiting undeniable symptoms of dementia or the news report that caused the uncontrollable weeping is so powerful that it has the capacity to make people act like they are losing their minds.

"The change [on the Supreme Court] did not appear to make a difference..." Those words keep echoing in my mind. I start crying again every time I hear those words. I weep because I understand those words tell a story about the future of legalized abortion in this nation, and that story is one that is so terrible for so many people in this nation that I cannot help but weep uncontrollably. The words are not only a death sentence for an obscenely large number of unborn babies, and a death sentence for my hopes for the abolition of legalized abortion, but perhaps a death sentence for this world as well.

And what are the Pro Life leaders doing in the face of this incontrovertible evidence that the Supreme Court will do nothing to overturn Roe v. Wade? They are doing everything in their power to stop us from showing the futility of the present pro-life strategy. They are doing everything in their power to stop us from doing anything at all in South Dakota. And if they fail to stop us from exposing the futility of the pro-life strategy, they are positioning themselves to blame the entire destruction of the pro-life strategy on US!

Don't believe me. Listen to Troy Newman of Operation Rescue as he tells me all the horrible things that will happen if we continue with the South Dakota Offensive:

Dear Neal, Rob, and Jonathon,

As you all know I have been 100% behind the graphic displays of aborted babies. In fact, our first Truth Truck rolled out in the summer of 2000, the first in the nation. Today we have six billboard vehicle traversing the United States; all of them outfitted with graphic picture of pre-born children.

Today, however, you must note that we are NOT operating in South Dakota. Why, you ask? As I explained to Rob Rudnick there is a highly professional and well organized group of Christians in South Dakota doing a better job that any of us could do on our own. The graphics were used there previously and I believe their use in this venue is now completed: a job well done!

I have met with the VoteYesforLife group and I can tell you with absolute certainty their message will carry the election in November. The polls show the race is a dead heat with the momentum going to the voteyesforlife.

However, the campaign could stall if we give the pro-abortion fanatics a club to beat up pro-lifers. Currently the positive messages being produced are the best I have ever seen. "This ain't no National Right to Life puff commercial" to quote a well known pro-lifer.

The death merchants are looking for ways to discourage, demotivate, and discredit the voteyesforlife supporters.

They may succeed if you follow through with your plan to bring the graphic pictures back to South Dakota. Additionally the individuals themselves (Neal and Jonathon and Rob) will be under intense scrutiny and I can guarantee a front page "hit piece" against them in the Argus Leader. We can already foretell the lies the paper will spewl.

Therefore, I beseech you with all Christian concern and with a Godly call for prudence. Do not move forward with this agenda. Instead place yourselves, and as many others as you can bring, under the direction of the voteyesforlife campaign. Walk precincts, make phone calls, stuff letters, but please do not bring the graphics.

You are all intelligent people. I appeal to your sanity. I appeal to your sense of duty. I know that each one of you desires to see child-killing end. As do I, as do the voteyesforlife folks.

This vote in South Dakota represents years of hard work by good Christian people. Trust me, your friend, I know this to be true.

Please volunteer with voteyesforlife, but by no means complete your plan of displaying the graphic pictures.

Please do not walk into a well laid trap. They will besmirch you, our message, and alienate many who would go to the polls to vote yes on 6.

I pray this does not fall upon deaf ears.

Sincerely,

Troy Newman

Okay, did you get that? Troy says he can promise us "with absolute certainty" that even though the "race is [now] a dead heat...their message will carry the election in November." UNLESS...

Unless what? Unless we come to South Dakota and show people the pictures of dead babies, that's what. Unless we come to South Dakota and tell people there that the game is fixed, that's what. Troy Newman is saying that if we bring the South Dakota Offensive to South Dakota, we will be guilty of thwarting the entire strategy of the pro-life movement.

Wake up Troy! The present strategy of the pro-life movement is already thwarted. The present strategy of the pro-life movement is a futile exercise in wishful thinking and anybody with eyes that see can see the evidence that proves it. All you have to do is look at the CNN article I quoted above and you will see it.

Troy Newman and the entire pro-life movement wants us to act like we have learned nothing whatsoever from the last thirty odd years of legalized child sacrifice in this nation. Troy Newman and the rest of the pro-life movement wants us to act like we are oblivious to proof that, based on good and incontrovertible evidence, everything the pro-life movement is doing is going to turn out to be just as futile as everything the pro-life movement did back in 1985 when Ronald Reagan was President and he was going to give us a Supreme Court that would overturn Roe v. Wade.

If you want to see all the evidence proving the previous accusation, read this article.

GET WITH THE PROGRAM!, Troy Newman as good as says. He even prays his plea does "not fall on deaf ears."

My problem is my ears are not deaf. I have listened to what the new justices Bush has put on the Supreme Court have said. If you read what they told the Senate Committee, you will see that they are enslaved to Stare Decisis and when, or if, the South Dakota law forbidding abortion comes before them, they will tell us that the legal principle of Stare Decisis rules in this nation and there is nothing they can do to change that.

When are we going to receive eyes that see and ears that hear!?

I'd like to be friends with Troy and the other pro-life leaders, but I will no longer cooperate with the leaders of the pro-life movement and I'll tell you why.

The Lord Jesus Christ said the way to inherit eternal life was to love our neighbors. There is a fundamental anomaly in people who claim to believe we have eternal life even as we stand by and allow thousands of the least of our neighbors be legally slaughtered all around us each day that passes.

So Troy and all the rest of you pro-life leaders hear me clear: My eternal life is at stake here. I cannot pretend I have one scintilla of faith that the present strategy of the pro-life movement will do anything but add further evidence to the world's brief that God's people are self-deluded fools who have no reason whatsoever to be believed when they tell the world they know the Lord Jesus Christ is raised from the grave.

In order for our gospel witness to have integrity, we have got to stop doing things that have already been tried and failed. It is time for the hard things now that all the easy things have proven themselves to be futile.

There is a new thing waiting to be done in this generation. We the people can quit acting like the craven and enslaved tools of murderous people and tell the federal government of the USA that it does not matter what the Supreme Court says, some things are simply intolerable. SIMPLY INTOLERABLE and we will not live under it without doing everything in our power to fight the intolerable evil to the death.

God's people should have said that the day Roe v. Wade made us all collaborators with legalized murder. We didn't. We can now.

It is time for some of us to say that now. Don't believe it, watch! God will give us that much grace. And we will keep on saying it until legalized abortion is abolished in this nation or we will die trying.

God willing we will say it in South Dakota from now until November 7 when the people of that State participate in another futile scene in a terrible tragedy of futile people futilely pretending to be serving the One who told us our key to inheriting eternal life could be found in how well we loved our neighbor.
