The Baby Killer's Middle Finger

(Christian Gallery News Service, June 17, 2008) Most everyone has heard the news story about the man who beat a baby boy to death on the side of a well-traveled road in plain view of America, but few people have thought about the role the murderer's middle finger played in that story..

To recap: Saturday night, on a rural Stanislaus County, California, road, Sergio Aguilar, 27, parked his truck beside the road, removed a 2-year-old boy from his car seat and proceeded to stomp, kick and punch the boy to death. Several motorists called 911 and tried to stop the beating. One was named Dan Robinson. He told The Modesto Bee that at first he thought the child was a dead animal in the road. He said when he realized it was a child, he tried to stop Aguilar. He said Aguilar had a "total hollowness in his eyes" and talked calmly of the boy being filled with "demons." A police officer, Jerry Ramar, arrived on the scene and told Aguilar to stop beating the child. Aguilar flashed his middle finger at Ramar before Ramar shot him in the forehead, police said.

People who have spent time outside abortion clinics in the USA will testify that the middle finger of murder is often seen there. We have all witnessed people on the very cusp of killing children even younger and more defenseless than the toddler savaged by his father raise their middle finger in reply to our pitiful and mostly impotent appeals to stop. The middle finger is, in fact, so common that a brief can be written proving that the middle finger of murder could be a spontaneous reaction, not of the person killing the child, but of the demons who inhabit that person. This article is that brief.

By nature creatures do not want to kill their children. Sure, male lions and male bears have been seen to do so, but, based on their refusal to follow the lion's example, creation itelf might be said to shudder at the idea of killing its babies. Even human beings shuddered in ages past. You can talk about original sin all you want but a cursory examination of recorded history proves that until the last few decades it was an exceedingly rare event in nature for any human being--male or female--to decide to kill their own child.

No more. Since the Second World War, killing babies, which began as a small snow ball rolling down a hill, has grown until it is a snowball unique in history, a snowball so huge that in ages to come this period could well be called the time of killing babies.

I learned much about demons by working for the last ten years as a computer programmer. In computer programming a demon (computer programmers normally call it “daemon” after the original Greek word, but it’s a Demon just the same) is a program that resides on the computer. The demon is normally dormant but is activated when the computer user takes certain actions with the computer. In other words, a demon is a user-activated computer program. When the demon is activated, it takes over the computer, does its demon work, and then disappears back into the background when its work is done, there to await its next activation.

In the world of computers, it’s easy to see that demons are not necessarily bad things. In fact, computers cannot do what we’ve learned to expect from them without the presence of demons in the background doing all sorts of things that the computer user has no knowledge of. But in the kingdom of God, those created in the image of God are not spiritless computers. Each human being received a spirit from God, a spirit that was created by God to control all the inherent tendencies within the individual that could hurt or even destroy the individual. According to 1 Cor 2:11, that spirit within the individual knows every thought of the individual. The wonderful message found within the New Testament tells everyone that if they become properly equipped, they will have the power to prevent all the destructive demons in the universe from doing their work of destruction.

The man on the side of the road who beat his own child to death, as well as the people who go into abortion clinics to have their children torn apart or poisoned to death, are all examples of people whose spirit refused to believe the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ and therefore have no more power to resist the destructive demons in and around them than the lions and bears who kill their own children.

Few will deny that the bullet in the forehead of Sergio Aguilar was a bullet well spent. Even if, as the evidence suggests, the child was dead when Aguilar was shot, the example set by the bullet in his forehead was a helpful start in persuading everyone in this nation that there are some things we cannot do without ending up like Sergio Aguilar.

In this way is the law established. In fact, the law cannot be established any other way. You can tell people about the law all day long but until they see for themselves that breaking the law carries with it inevitable and unstoppable punishment, they simply do not believe the law exists. Show everyone a law breaker with a bullet hole in the forehead and people begin to believe the law has been established.

Christians today have forgotten why the law must be established before the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ can be understood. This has occurred because this generation of Christians, instead of being taught to understand the Apostle of God who said, "Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law..." have been taught a litany of lies resurrected from the dreadful and blood-soaked history of Christian antinomianism.

Unless and until this generation of Christians accepts responsibility to establish the law in the USA, there will be no one other than ourselves that God will hold culpable for the people who are going about the highways and byways of America murdering their own children.
