But how has the pro-life community responded to this truth?

By creating confusion rather than wisdom, by embracing darkness rather than light.

With legalized abortion a national consensus was reached, a consensus that included Christians of all varieties, and that consensus was to treat the mothers who kill their babies as somehow immune from criticism because they were victims.

Why are women who decide to kill their own children victims?

Because they had no other choice? What a lie! Crisis Pregnancy Centers exist in every area of this country waiting to help pregnant women sustain their child instead of kill it.

Because they are damaged themselves by their decisions? Any person who takes the life of a human being without justification is damaged thereby. They were misled by the government? Except for those instances where the child is raped, by the time a mother reaches child bearing age, God gives her grace enough to know right from wrong no matter how evil the government or society she is a part of...and a mother worthy of the name has to be prepared to resist those evil forces that would tempt her to kill her child, or she must suffer the consequences.

Are mothers who kill their babies learning about these consequences? No! And the pro-life community is a major reason for this ongoing confusion. Go to any pro-life organization and their literature reeks with words about the poor "victims" who decide to have their children butchered. Where else in history have mothers who have decided to kill their children been treated as victims? Sure, there have been rare instances where people killed their children because their city was under siege or some other natural disaster had befallen like famine or plague. But even in those cases there was an ambiguity in history's verdict because history has always understood that the first priority of grownups is supposed to be the protection of the young. We might understand the rare instances where children must be sacrificed because it was a choice between the lives of the children or the lives of the adults necessary to perpetuate the society, but that is certainly not the case today.

There are words for what a mother does when she kills her unborn child for any reason other than clear and present self-defense, and those words must be used: words like infanticide and homicide, and evil, and sin, and punishable by law and God. Those are good words and true and they must be applied to mothers who abort their babies. And those homicidal mothers must be held up for the world to see.

Up until now the mothers who kill their children have been protected. They have been getting a free ride from everyone except God Almighty. Let it be known throughout the world that they will not get a free ride from God Almighty. There is a time coming when mothers who kill their children to enhance their own convenience will suffer the fires of hell for eternity unless they repent.
