PATHWAY COMMUNICATIONS

Helping You Up the Path to Success.

Experience Plus Talent Equals Good Things.

After obtaining a BA in Journalism from the University of Georgia, Pathway's President, Neal Horsley, became an advertising account executive with "Buckhead, Atlanta" an Atlanta weekly owned by Jim Hickey, well-known Atlanta Journalism executive. (The preceding is a "run-on" sentence, one of the many faux paxs Pathway Communication can help you avoid.) Nearly twenty years and many varied communication experiences later, Neal Horsley is a gold mine of experience and ideas. To prove the point, the Atlanta Christian Gallery you are presently browsing was conceived and implemented by Pathway Communications guided by Neal Horsley.

So. Let's talk. Call us today for a free consultation.

Okay, so you're not convinced. How's this for credentials? From 1979 to 1985, Neal Horsley was Southeast Regional Director for Prison Fellowship, the ministry founded by Chuck Colson. As Regional Director, Neal helped conceive and implement the media and public relations activities that helped Prison Fellowship, Inc. become the largest prison ministry in the world.

Here comes the closer: Neal Horsley has a Masters in Religion from Westminster Seminary, which as everyone knows is the key to success in advertising today.

Joke. Get it?

All jokes aside, Neal Horsley is back in the market today raring to help you make a buck or spread the news or whatever you're trying to do that involves communications.

Why? The answer will either make you my friend or my enemy. But here goes anyway.

Why Christian Business People Will Utilize the Internet

The New York Times, on 31 October 1995, reported a Neilsen Media Research Survey about the Internet. Following is a verbatim quote:

Amazing Profit Opportunity

Given those demographics, is there any wonder Fortune 10000 companies are scampering aboard the Internet like wired up adolescents streaming through the gates of an amusement park? Reread the New York Times article and you can almost hear marketing executives yelling, " THERE'S GOLD, THERE'S GOLD IN THEM THAR HILLS!"

The Christian Business Delimma

While, in the flesh, all Christian business owners can understand the excitement generated by the Internet, we know our business decisions must be based on factors other than money alone. As businesspeople, we have to make profit to survive, yet as Christians we want our activities to serve the Lord. As every Christian businessperson knows, the two goals are not always easily compatible. Thankfully, with the Internet, we are given an opportunity that blends ministry and business considerations in an unusually compatible mixture.

The Internet Makes Our Job Easier

The Internet provides an excellent way to go about the Lord's business even as we try to accumulate financial profit. Here's how:

The Internet is a perfect "target marketing" medium. "Target Marketing" is about spending your advertising dollar to reach the people most likely to respond positively to your business. Through the Internet, we have the opportunity to reach Christians, the very people most likely to support the activities of Christian business people. If we provide a competitive product or service, we can reasonably expect Christians to support our business in obedience to Paul's admonition in Galatians 6:10: "As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith." (KJV) Given the demographics of the Internet, if the ads are cost-effective, the Christian Gallery becomes a legitimate advertising choice.

But remember what we saw earlier? Effective direct marketing is not our only goal as Christian businesspeople. We must also participate in defending the faith at the same time.

That's where things get particularly difficult for Christian businesspeople. Finding ways to profit financially without compromising the faith becomes one of the real ongoing challenges facing Christian business people. Once again, the Internet is a great blessing.

For the first time in ages, the Internet provides Christians with a direct line to millions of unbelievers all across the planet. By interacting with those people via the Internet, Truth will be told that is presently going unheard in many parts of this nation and the world . The Christian Gallery provides a venue for large numbers of Chrsistian business owners to venture into this new thing called "cyberspace" and there find new ways to bring forth the good news about our Lord Jesus Christ.

Okay, that's the good news if Christians decide to effectively utilize the Internet. But there's also bad news if we decide to leave this medium to others.

Defending the faith

Like everything else in this world, the Internet will either be a tool for God's purposes or it will be turned against the Lord. On 21 August 1995, the New York Times printed the following article, "Planet Out, a new electronic media company that will makes its debut on the Microsoft Network this week, is seeking to become the 'gay global village' of cyberspace...If it is successful--and some of the most influential names in Hollywood, Silicon Valley, the online networks and the gay communities are offering their support to make sure it is--Planet Out will become a model... for...highly focused marketing...'Traditional mass media is very cost-intensive,' said Tom Reilly, a high technology industry marketing executive who is president and principal financial backer of Planet Out. 'Gays and lesbians don't have a high level of ownership of mainstream media properties. The Internet is the first medium where we can have a equal footing with the big player.'"

The Internet, it is generally understood, will become the backbone of the global communication network linking together every school and public institution on the planet in the twenty-first century. Now I'm going to say something that will offend large numbers of people. I know this will shock many christians who have been conditioned to think Jesus would never allow any of His followers to offend anyone, but sinners have always been offended by the Truth. So it continues: If the vision of that network being owned by homosexuals committed to creating a "gay global village" does not motivate you to think about becoming involved with the Internet, I really must wonder whether your antenna is connected to the same frequency the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ uses to communicate with His children.

But if you hear His voice, I think you will see why we persevere in working to see the Christian Gallery become an effective advertising presence that will allow hundreds, perhaps thousands, of Christian business owners to find an effective, profitible use of the Internet--Profitibility that will ensure nothing will happen on, or with, the Internet without those thousands of Christians playing a responsible part in that process.
