What is that sound you hear? It is the sound of millions of Christians on the run.
When the dominant form of Christianity in a particular culture is actually apostate Christianity, then the only alternative for real Christians is an alternative Christianity. But is the dominant form of christianity in the USA today actually apostate?
Ever one of the most popular Christian activities, today Christian retreathas become an unbreakable habit. Clearly a rout is underway. With ordinary Christians in retreat from the responsibility to obey Jesus Christ, God will move His faithful followers to create an alternative to the cowering thing most people know as Christianity.
How did I reach this conclusion?
Over seven years ago I began posting to the Internet the pages you are presently browsing. Since then hardly a day has passed without a steady stream of email from Christians who are convinced I must be stopped from saying thethings I say.
Why?
They are scared, poor sheep. Listening to me, they realize that being a Christian could get people in trouble with the law, especially when the law is controlled by God damned pagans who are actively committed to destroying God's power to damn anybody.
Did you get that?
Probably not. The Christians who jumped on me like a malodorous covering have spent their lives trying to hide the fact that the God of the Bible is in the damning as well as the saving business. It's no wonder that people are misunderstood who say God damn anything and mean it as more than a throwaway expletive. Christians today will fight you in a second--fight you in their backstabbing, Amish shunning way--if you have the audacity to stand up in front of the world and say something about God that the world doesn't want to hear, something like the fact that God damns those who refuse His authority.
Christians have compromised with the world. Christians talk big when they're hidden behind the walls of their sanctuaries, but when they're out here in the world, they have agreed not to say anything about God that will upset the pagan majority around them.
Listen to them on the radio. Listen to them on television. Listen to them on the Internet. Go to their websites. Listen to them talk about the love of God as the nation called the United States of America burns the Word of God just as surely as king Jehoikim cut up the words of Jeremiah and burned them in the fire. Their words about the love of God make God look like he cares more for laws made by a nation committed to destroying His authority than he cares about the people who make up that nation-people who must learn to believe on Him if they are to live forever.
Such an image of God is blasphemy against the God of Jeremiah, the God who condemned Israel to captivity for ignoring the word of God.
If you're a Christian, chances are your blood's beginning to churn. Christians don't want anybody who calls himself a Christian to talk the way I do. They're afraid people who get angry at me will spill over on to themselves. After all, I call myself a Christian just like they do.
They're scared, God bless 'em. Scared little sheep.
It's a wonder their shepherd doesn't take better care of them.
Maybe it's because they've got the wrong shepherd. Maybe they have strayed away from the Good Shepherd and ended up in another flock, one where the sheep have to look out for themselves.
But it's not surprising. That's what happens when God's people start ignoring the law.
And that's what's happened. Christians today have forgotten what the law was for.
Paul said it was a schoolmaster to lead us to Christ.
But school's out in the United States of America. And the rest of the world.
Not for ever, though. School might be out, but the schoolmaster's still around. If you catch yourself looking over your shoulder, you'll know I'm right.
