The Sociopathic State

Thomas Storck (New Oxford Review, July-August 2010) presents the personal and social consequences of the “Four Sins that Cry Out to Heaven for Vengeance” In the Roman Catholic tradition. These are (1) willful murder, (2) sins of Sodom and Gomorrah, (3) neglecting widows and orphans in their distress, and (4) depriving laborers of a just wage. Of all the sins of humanity why are these four singled out for special condemnation? May I suggest that they uniquely produce a Sociopathic State; that is, a State in which the governors and the governed no longer know right from wrong and use the power of the State to actively promote wrong on a massive scale against its own people, with the consent of its own people. Let me elaborate.

Consider willful murder. Along with Storck, I would include State-sanctioned wars. Were any wars in American history truly necessary? Canada attained independence from Great Britain without a revolutionary war. The American Civil War was not to end slavery, it was to eliminate the Constitutional provision allowing individual states to secede from the United States by a mere act of their legislatures, as Lincoln made clear. Slavery was already economically unviable as it was too labor-intensive and mechanization had already begun 60 years earlier with the invention of the cotton gin. So 600,000 young men on both sides died to sustain a violation of the U.S. Constitution by our Federal Government. The Mexican War and the Spanish-American War were wars of imperial aggression. Woodrow Wilson got us into World War I by declaring, “We must make the world safe for democracy!” For what “democracies”? Czarist Russia, Republican France, and Imperial Britain, governments which held most of the world in colonial subjugation. There would have been no World War II if America had stayed out of World War I because there would be no draconian “peace” imposed on Germany. In World War II, an atom bomb could have been dropped offshore in Tokyo harbor so millions of people could see its destructive power. Instead, civilians were targeted in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, with a large serving of anti-Catholic bigotry dropped on the large Catholic population of Nagasaki. Korea was a standoff and we lost Vietnam. These were civil wars as much as wars of Communist aggression. Was that our business? Why are we now in Iraq and Afghanistan? Less than 4000 people died when the Twin Towers fell. Americans kill more than 4000 of our own people every day by abortion, and have been for 37 years.

Rampant abortion is the other example of willful murder cited by Storck. Had not a killing fever been stoked by America’s wars, would “war” have been declared on the next and all future generations of Americans by the U.S. Supreme Court in its 1973 Roe v. Wade ruling? Consider the atrocity of this ruling. The entire future population of America can be legally killed (murdered) when it is still trapped in the womb and unable to defend itself. A new “Civil War” was declared by sociopathic Justices who violated the U.S. Constitution by “finding” an unstated “right” after having sworn to defend what was actually written in that document. Their motive was not their declared intention to advance equality for women. As Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg admitted recently, it was to keep America from getting people “we don’t want too many of.” To that end, the wombs of women were to be strip mined of human beings by surgical abortions and made toxic dump sites in which no human can survive by chemical abortions. This “liberates” women? It makes women’s bodies an environment to be ravaged and plundered, to the great delight of “professional” environmentalists. To date, a minimum of 50 million people have been “reported” as murdered by abortion. The actual number, including the abortifacient activity of the “contraceptive” pill? Who knows?

None of this would be possible without active government complicity, beginning with taxing the public to finance the slaughter and then enacting Federal laws such as the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act (FACE), which criminalizes with crushing prison terms and draconian fines the very kind of peaceful sit-in for which Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr., received the Nobel Peace Prize and is honored with a national holiday. Why the contrast? The Federal Government wants the next generation of Americans to be murdered without limit. And more. The Federal Government wants American foreign policy to be aimed at aborting the Third World population so America has unrestricted access to Third World resources. To this end, the Kissinger Memorandum was adopted as the cornerstone of U.S. Foreign Policy by the Nixon Administration, American taxpayers are compelled to subsidize the forced-abortion one-child policy in Communist China, to finance the international abortion cartel, and to prioritize making American foreign aid dependent on “legalizing” abortion in Third World countries, instead of prioritizing overcoming endemic diseases, providing maternal care, and securing access to pure water.

Consider sins of Sodom and Gomorrah. In the Genesis account, God makes clear that mainstreaming sodomy in these two cities has made them unfit for human habitation. Not even ten just men can be found there. In America, and in the debauched lands once called Christendom, sodomy crept in by first asking to be tolerated, then seeking acceptance, and now demanding to be declared superior to heterosexual intercourse. Sodomy is a vice so vile, in the words of Alexander Pope, “a monster of so frightful mien, as to be hated needs but to be seen. Yet seen too oft, familiar with her face, we first endure, then pity, then embrace.” What makes sodomy infinitely more repugnant that fornication, adultery, and similar sexual sins is just this: It is so hideous it must demand “respectability” in order to survive. Sodomy must pull down every institution opposing it. Co-existence is impossible. Marriage can co-exist with fornication and adultery. Not with sodomy. Sodomy by its very nature puts the weak at the mercy of the strong. It craves the beauty of youth, placing youth in thralldom to money and power (hence the preference of homosexual predators for callow adolescent boys), it revels in corrupting innocence (hence the “dead faces” of emaciated youths posing in various stages of nakedness for Calvin Klein), it shuns intimacy (hence the “toilet culture” of anonymous homosexual encounters), it embraces filth and torture (hence the fixation on feces and urine, on leather and bondage).

As with abortion, the full power of Government is enlisted to promote sodomy. The U.S. President vows to repeal the Defense of Marriage act he once supported. The Family and Medical Leave Act is being modified to force private employers of 50 or more to provide a leave of absence for workers to care for homosexual “partners” or “spouses” with health problems such as AIDS. Our Secretary of State vows to use her power to promote abortion and sodomy as the twin pillars of American foreign policy. The new “Obamacare” federalized health plan has provisions that force Catholic hospitals and related institutions to adopt hiring and treatment standards that promote sodomy, euthanasia, and abortion, and that are stripped of provisions that protect the conscientious objections of these people and institutions. Mainstreaming abortion and sodomy is designed to pile the tax burden for these activities onto families that bear and raise children, thus pitting one generation against the next by plundering the garden in order to expand a desert. Marriage, and therefore the family, cannot survive State-sponsored sodomy when the State penalizes every attempt of men and women to bind themselves for life in a loving commitment to bring forth the next generation free from State coercion, coercion that forces their children to attend State schools where their commitment is mocked and punished. The Sociopathic State has become Sodom and Gomorrah. It cannot deliver even ten just men.

Most especially, we see the corrupting power of sodomy in the Roman Catholic Church. When seminaries accept and then coddle active homosexuals, we see elimination of devotions to Our Holy Mother and loss of belief in the Real Presence of Our Lord in the Holy Eucharist. How could it be otherwise, when a homosexual predatory priest while saying the words of Consecration casts lustful glances at his altar boy? How can bishops, knowing this and still sending these priests from parish to parish for fresh victims, retain this belief? Why is it that under five percent of priests have been exposed and punished, whereas over 70 percent of equally or more guilty bishops still retain their office? Too often these reassignments were made after secular psychiatrists who don’t believe in sin and redemption pronounced sodomizing priests “cured.” Why did bishops exempt themselves from any penalties? They should have resigned and surrendered themselves to civil authorities, pleading “guilty” to save their flocks the expense of trials. Cardinal Archbishop Roger Mahony spent $700,000,000 of his flock’s money attempting to avoid testifying before a grand jury. Archbishop Rembert Weakland took $450,000 from his flock to pay “hush money” to his homosexual lover. Both still retain mitre, crosier, and the full regalia of office. Over $2 billion in litigation, a string of dioceses in bankruptcy, and not one bishop has faced judge and jury. All due to sodomy. We all know that media attacks on the Catholic Church over these abuses is rank anti-Catholic bigotry because in their heart of hearts these media assailants see nothing wrong at all with sodomy, and in fact embrace it, and also know the Catholic Church is the only institution that can restore morality.

These assailants are sociopaths, knowing not right from wrong, and dedicated totally to promoting the destruction of society by calling evil good and good evil. If we ask them “Why?” they are struck dumb, for they have no answer worthy of respect. Homosexuals have no interest in marriage as an institution in which two people are bound to lifelong fidelity for the purpose of raising children. The hedonistic, narcissistic, self-indulgent lifestyle of homosexuals is utterly incompatible with these ends. Their goal is to destroy marriage by forcing it to comply with incompatibility. Destruction of marriage leads to destruction of society itself, to Sodom, Gomorrah, fire, and brimstone.

Consider the sin of neglecting widows and orphans in their distress. This takes on a whole new dimension of horror when a Sociopathic State gains control. What woman is more a “widow” than a pregnant mother with no support system from husband, family, or community? What child is more an “orphan” than the one she carries who is targeted for abortion? This situation exists in America today because the State has intervened to keep the father of her child out of her house, so it can never become the nucleus of a family, never become a home. The State provides a “house” and “family” that guarantee she will remain isolated and alone, and therefore dependent on its tender mercies.

The whole thrust of State-supported “welfare” is to keep women and children isolated from support traditionally provided by the family and the Church. Ultimately, State-supported “welfare” pits mothers against their own children by isolating both from any support system that actually works. The goal is to keep women (half of this generation) and children (all of the next generation) dependent on Government for the barest essentials of survival, and therefore to make them reliable voters for continuing Government “assistance” posing as charity. The reason for this intergenerational systematic oppression of women and children, “widows and orphans,” is so the politicians who design and enforce these policies can continue to keep their miserable little jobs sucking the lifesblood from the people they were elected to serve. (When Hitler told his lieutenants to begin the Final Solution, one said, “To do that will require the cooperation of every constable and burgermeister in every village in Germany. They have Jewish friends from childhood. They won’t do it.” Hitler screamed, spitting saliva, “They’ll do it! They’ll do it just to keep their miserable little jobs!)

Right and wrong have nothing to do with it. Sociopaths don’t recognize right and wrong, though they’ll spout the conviction they know the difference more than we. Abortion and sodomy, when State-sponsored, produce sociopaths and the conditions that turn women and children into widows and orphans without any support system to lift them up from dependence and thralldom to the Sociopathic State.

Consider the sin of depriving workers of a just wage. When the Sociopathic State intervenes, we see this sin magnified way beyond the evil it creates among individuals. Two manifestations in particular are traced directly to State policies. The first is uncontrolled illegal immigration across our Mexican border. The poverty caused by government corruption in Mexico creates the compulsion to emigrate. As with the 1845-1850 potato famine in Ireland, government injustices never get addressed once emigration becomes the accepted alternative. On the contrary, money sent to Mexican families by illegal Mexican workers only perpetuates the injustices by making them seem bearable because this pittance of “relief” becomes available. In America, the Democrat Party seeks to exploit this oppression by posing as the champion of the “little man” to Mexican laborers, giving their leaders access to political power through the traditional spoils system of Democrat politics. The Faustian bargain this time around is Mexican politicians must embrace the Democrat agenda of abortion and sodomy before access to power is granted. Traditional Mexican devotion to faith and family are jettisoned as these politicians hand over their own people to abortion profiteers driven by personal greed and racial hatred of Hispanic Christians. The Republican and Democrat Parties are one in this endeavor. Republicans dedicated to corporate profits in agriculture, manufacturing, and commerce crave cheap foreign labor, making it impossible for an undocumented worker to support his family by his own efforts. This forces his wife and children into the labor force, so the whole concept of a family wage earned by the husband and father gets jettisoned. Like abortion and sodomy, this is a formula for destruction of the family. The intention among Democrat and Republican elites (let’s call them Kennedy Democrats and Rockefeller Republicans) is to sustain and extend this injustice, not to end it.

The other manifestation of depriving workers of a just wage is exposed for all to see in the widening gap between the perks, pensions, and prosperity of government employees on the one hand and employees in the private sector on the other hand. Average mid-career Federal salaries are nearly double salaries for comparable work in the private workplace ($75,000 versus $40,000 per year), pensions and perks are negotiated by government unions in collusion with government agencies that can dip into the deep pockets of taxpayers to finance the largess. No accountability is required or wanted. As a result people on government payrolls (like me) can retire after 30 or 40 years as millionaires, with limousine life-long family medical care even after retirement. Union workers in private corporations that depend on government contracts for survival have much the same bloated salaries, perks, and pensions, but these are more quickly seen as unsustainable because the corporations must also complete in the private economy.

Who bears the burden when the scales of economic justice are tilted so heavily by pouring perks into the pan on the government side of the balance? Workers on the private side. As former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher put it, the system fails when the government runs out of other people’s money. Once again, the goal is to make voters dependent on government for job security, beginning with job security for politicians who enact these laws. Intrinsic to this injustice is the fact that much government work consists of designing and enforcing regulations that make it difficult for private companies to turn a profit that would correct the economic imbalance between government and private workers. This imbalance cannot last, but it can and does last for the duration of the average politician’s career and that’s all that matters to them once they have become sociopaths not knowing right from wrong. Like injustices inherent in abortion, sodomy, and welfare dependence, economic injustice is an inevitable consequence of government that can no longer distinguish right from wrong. “Right” is what works, “wrong” is what doesn’t, and what “works” is defined as what gets government politicians re-elected.

In this sociopathic mindset, government has three functions, (1) to use taxation to confiscate the wealth of citizens who produce wealth, (2) to use regulations to confiscate the freedom of citizens to be independent of State control, and (3) to use State coercion to confiscate the very lives of people, killing without limit the next generation and keeping elderly and handicapped people in constant fear of receiving the same fate, merely because they are deemed “useless eaters” who “take” from government more that they “give” in taxes. Physicians become mere errand boys charged with telling patients that Government death panels have denied care to them. In a Sociopathic State, these three functions become one, and as one they become the sin that cries to Heaven for vengeance.

Hey, if it’s moral for the U.S. Military to carpet-bomb Vietnamese citizens by raining down death from 40,000 feet, why isn’t it moral for Government “health care” bureaucrats to rain down death from Washington, D.C., on American citizens who like the Vietnamese are “not contributing” to national goals? To a sociopath for whom might makes right, and who has the might, what’s the difference? There isn’t any.

How does a State become sociopathic? By exchanging the Christian view, that we were created by the Creator of the Universe in His image and likeness for the purpose of spending eternity with Him in Heaven, for the Darwinian pottage that we originated from worms and our destiny is to be eaten by worms. Once this mindset holds the ruling elites in thralldom, they promote a State that implements the mindset, a state in which children are expendable (hence contraception and abortion), marriage is outmoded (hence divorce, sodomy, and narcissism are mainstreamed), self-indulgence is idolized (widows and orphans are shunned as were lepers in days of old), and labor exists only to serve government (the “family wage” becomes a subversive concept because it gives to the husband and father what the State demands for itself). The Sociopathic State has acquired a terminal cancer in which unproductive cells (government employees) feed off the productive cells (private employees) until no productive cells remain. Then the Sociopathic State dies. This is what we are now witnessing in America. Is America finished? That doesn’t matter. What matters is the sociopathic condition is terminal, but humanity is immortal. Humanity will survive with or without America because Jesus Christ, Creator of the Universe, has purchased us with an infinite sacrifice of love and devotion that cannot be denied.
